Liverpool forced to respond to BOMBSHELL Mo Salah investment plan
Liverpool have been forced to respond after a massive investment plan circled Mo Salah. The Reds must make a decision.
It's time to worry about Mo Salah's future again! The Egyptian will enter the final year of his contract this summer and we're back to where we were in 2024/25.
That season was dominated off-the-pitch by Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold's respective contract negotiations. The former two would ultimately re-sign with Liverpool, though Alexander-Arnold chose to join Real Madrid.
But Salah and Van Dijk 'only' signed two-year deals. That really just postponed the serious talk over their departures to 2026 - and here we are again.
It's Salah's future that has everyone's attention, especially after his troubled start to the campaign led to Arne Slot dropping him. His untouchable position no longer feels untouchable - and that has vultures circling.
The massive Mo Salah investment
It was reported in the Telegraph on Thursday that the Saudi Pro League intends to invest heavily in players later this year as their current crop of superstars come to the end of their contracts. Salah is understandably at the top of their list.
Now Talksport are reporting similar, suggesting there was interest earlier this month - but Liverpool shot it down. Notably, though, they claim the Reds ‘insist’ that they don’t want to lose Salah this summer.
They want to hold onto him for the entirety of his contract. So one extra season, in other words.
But Liverpool know the mega-bid is coming. Now, whether that bid approaches the kind of money offered in 2023 is another matter and in truth, the club has to say they don’t want to sell even if they actually do.
It will force a massive decision at Anfield and is largely dependent on how Salah plays over the second half of the season. Liverpool will certainly be more inclined to push for a transfer if the Egyptian struggles from here to the end of the campaign.
Salah, too, will likely be favourable towards a move if he no longer feels he can achieve more records at Anfield. This summer will be a huge one, then.
It may well be goodbye.
