Liverpool are now closing in on a move to bring one of the best attacking talents in world football to Anfield.

We don't hear this often. The Reds have operated cautiously in the market but smartly too. They only really go out of their way to secure a major transfer when they know that player is worth it.

And it seems like that is the case with Florian Wirtz.

As per The Athletic, the German international has indicated that Liverpool is his choice. The Reds still have to come to an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen, but this should not be a problem.

Sky Sports reports that Liverpool are closing in on a deal with the Reds prepared to finalise a €150m package in order to secure the German international's services.

It's unbelievable news and it's a transfer that would not only break Liverpool's transfer record but the Premier League's record too.

Wirtz though is no stranger to records, he's broken multiple in the five years since he has emerged into senior football.

Here at Anfield Watch we've compiled all of them.

It was in the midst of the dreadful Covid-19 football that Wirtz broke onto the scene at Bayer Leverkusen. He made his debut in 2020 and became the youngest player ever to score in the Bundesliga at 17 years and 34 days old.

This record has since been broken but the feat is still extremely impressive. Wirtz had barely turned 17 years old but already he was becoming a regular first team footballer for Leverkusen.

He was essentially Lamine Yamal before Lamine Yamal. Or rather than Lamine Yamal of the Bundesliga because he set several more records as a teenager.

At 18-years-old in March 2021, he was the youngest player ever to be called-up to the senior German national team since 1950.

Just before that, he became the youngest player to score five goals in the Bundesliga before his 18th birthday in February 2021.

Later that year, he became the first Bundesliga player to score more than 10 goals in the competition before his 19th birthday.

He's the youngest player to make 50 appearances in the Bundesliga also accomplishing that feat before his 19th birthday at 18 years and 223 days.

Wirtz is also the youngest player to score for Germany at the European Championships in the 21st century, netting on his debut in the competition against Scotland at Euro 2024.

He's the third youngest to make an appearance for Germany in the 21st century behind Jamal Musiala and Youssoufa Moukoko.

Those records alongside being voted Bundesliga's Player of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign prove that he is an insane talent.

A one in a generation kind of player. The fact that he's averaged 0.77 goal contributions per 90 at this age for Bayer Leverkusen in just under 200 appearances in all competitions further underlines that.

Soon, he could be on the verge of breaking another record before even making an appearance in the Premier League, and it would not surprise us if he broke even more in the years to come.
