It's very rare that someone signs two players from the same club in the same transfer window.

Of course, it's happened in the past. Even at Liverpool. Under Brendan Rodgers, the Reds raided Southampton bringing in Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert.

That was in a response to needing to replace Luis Suarez, who departed for Barcelona. On paper it was a brilliant move and in the end, Lallana and Lovren both ended up having successful careers at Anfield. Meanwhile, Lambert fulfilled a lifelong dream.

But this summer is a different level. Liverpool are going to be signing two players from Bayer Leverkusen who are two of the best players in their positions in world football.

Jeremie Frimpong is one of the best right-backs in the world. Meanwhile Florian Wirtz is one of the best attacking midfielders and probably one of the best players in the world in general.

The two of them have been extremely successful at Leverkusen. They went unbeaten in the Bundesliga during the 2023/24 campaign.

Now they are both going to continue their careers at Liverpool in a much better team. But just what will they bring to the team together as a duo?

What is Jeremie Frimpong's partnership like with Florian Wirtz?

In the last two seasons, Wirtz has made 68 goal contributions for Leverkusen. Frimpong on the other hand has made 43 goal contributions in the same period.

That's 55.5 goal contributions per season on average for the last two campaigns between the pair of them and 111 goal contributions in total.

Liverpool have already scored goals for fun this season. Adding these two to Slot's squad is going to make the Reds an unstoppable force.

In his career, Frimpong has combined for a goal eight times with Wirtz, which is the third highest among any of his teammates.

They've played 149 matches in total and have lost just 27 games while they were both on the pitch. Incredibly in the last two seasons, they've played 89 matches and have lost just six games.

Frimpong is the better of the two when it comes to providing assists. He's assisted seven of Florian Wirtz's goals, often being able to find him from crosses like the one shown below from the right flank with the German international running into the box from the left.

That's something we could definitely see being replicated at Liverpool. They are expected to take-up similar positions on the pitch, which could see Frimpong finding Wirtz more often.

On the other hand, Wirtz has only provided one assist to Frimpong. This actually came during the last game they played together for Leverkusen in a 4-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

Being close friends off the pitch, they are a fun duo. Frimpong has often been able to set-up Wirtz for clear goal-scoring opportunities, which only require a one touch finish.

Speaking about their relationship, Frimpong said the following:

"You know Flo is my guy. I know how to find him. I can trust him you know. If I have the chance to pass the ball to him, I always pass the ball to him, and he knows how to finish it," Frimpong told Bayer Leverkusen's official page.

This is an exciting prospect to look forward to for Liverpool.

Seven assists to Wirtz from Frimpong in 149 matches together doesn't sound like an awful lot, but it's actually quite impressive considering they play on opposite sides of the pitch.
