Liverpool FINALLY replace Roberto Firmino with extraordinary wonderkid

Pass the ball to Bobby and he will score.

What wonderful times they were as Liverpool fans. Roberto Firmino's tune belting. Mohamed Salah in his prime. Sadio Mane bombing up and down the left-flank. Jurgen Klopp in the dugout.

Those were the days. Liverpool were heading towards something. Building a team that was great and establishing the foundations that now Arne Slot carries on with him.

Undoubtedly the key to everything was Firmino. He made the Liverpool team tick for several reasons. His unselfish displays, his ability to draw defenders away and make something happen with a magical touch were unparalleled.

He was often the unsung hero. It was only after he left that we realised what we were missing.

Even many years later, Liverpool have not quite found a player worthy of replacing the Brazilian. That is until an extraordinary wonderkid has emerged onto the scene.

When you watch Joshua Sonni-Lambie play, there are shades of Firmino about him. And he's slowly making his way into the reckoning at first-team level after his performances this season.

The 17-year-old just has the same tenacity and flair as the Reds' former no.9.

Like Firmino, he's got a magical touch. Sonni-Lambie is very good at taking defenders out of the game with just a single flick or backheel - something Firmino excelled in.

Just like the Brazilian, he's also got a tireless work-rate off the ball. Sonni-Lambie presses his opponents and has the ability to win the ball high up the pitch.

His versatility is a bit like Firmino as well. He can play as a forward but he's also played as a no.10 and he can be used on the flanks, too.

This season, Sonni-Lambie has 12 goal contributions in 11 appearances at U18, U19 and U21 level. In total, he has scored nine goals and three assists.

That's more than anyone for the first-team, where Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo lead the race with seven.

With injuries to Alexander Isak, Jayden Danns and Will Wright, Sonni-Lambie is slowly making his way up the pecking order and he's got to be closing in on a first-team opportunity at this point.

If Isak's injury is serious enough to rule him out of the Crystal Palace game in the Carabao Cup, there is a serious chance of the 17-year-old earning his place on the bench at the very least.

Sooner or later, he's got the potential to be a regular star in the first-team. It's early days at the moment but with the right development it looks like Liverpool may finally have an heir to Firmino's throne. The stage is now Sonni-Lambie's.
