Manager confirms HUGE injury blow for Liverpool forward
Liverpool have had to deal with some injury trouble in recent weeks.
Most seriously, the Reds lost Giovanni Leoni owing to a torn ACL on his senior debut against Southampton in the EFL Cup.
The 18-year-old new signing came in from Parma over the summer transfer window for an initial £26m - but will play no further part this season.
Then there’s the case of Alisson Becker. The 33-year-old goalkeeper will be missing until after the November international window following his latest hamstring injury.
Liverpool's various injuries
Others - such as Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones - have also missed games due to various knocks and strains.
There was bad news following the Premier League 2 game versus Ipswich Town at the end of September too when Jayden Danns suffered a serious injury.
The 19-year-old striker - who has already played and scored for the first team - appeared to get hurt while taking a free-kick.
Jayden Danns out for months due to injury
It was claimed a few days ago that the homegrown forward was looking at a considerable injury layoff and now Liverpool under-21 manager Rob Page has confirmed the damage.
Speaking after his side’s recent game against Crewe in the EFL Trophy, Page told the Liverpool Echo: "It could be a couple of months. It's not going to be a quick fix.
"It's a setback for him, but Dannsy is very positive about everything in life, especially football. If anybody can get through this setback, it's him without doubt.
"He has the full support of the medical team and myself and the staff. He'll get through it."
Danns could be England's next No9
Danns was recently described by his U21 coach as England’s next No9 - and he has also sat on the bench for the first team this season - most notably against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
He missed out on a loan spell owing to injury in the 2023/24 season and this latest blow means he will again be missing out on vital minutes.
Hopefully he recovers well before the end of the calendar year and gets back up and running at both underage and senior level.
