The manager DESTINED to replace Arne Slot

Liverpool are in the midst of a crisis. The defending Premier League champions started the season well - winning five out of five - but their form has since collapsed.

Arne Slot’s side are languishing in the bottom half of the table right now having lost six of their last seven top-flight encounters. The latest defeat - a 3-0 home reverse at Anfield against Nottingham Forest represented a new low.

And it came hot on the heels of another 0-3 loss - on that occasion to Manchester City. Quite where Liverpool go from here is anyone’s guess - with Slot failing to integrate £450m worth of new signings into his team successfully.

If it goes on much longer like this then Slot - under contract until 2027 - might find himself out of a job.

And FSG would be then looking for a replacement for their title-winning manager - an entirely unexpected event last summer when Liverpool and Slot were on top of the world.

Could Oliver Glasner be Arne Slot's successor?

But who could come in to succeed Slot?

Well one name on the list already appears to be Oliver Glasner. The 51-year-old Austrian has worked wonders at Crystal Palace since replacing Roy Hodgson in 2024.

The ex-Eintracht Frankfurt boss took Palace to their first piece of major silverware last season - the FA Cup - and followed it up by winning the Community Shield against the Reds.

Out of contract at the end of the season it appears Glasner is now destined for bigger and better things.

And one report in Football Insider now suggests that Richard Hughes should take a temperature check on Glasner’s future before making any decision over Slot.

Glasner 'prepared to jump ship'

“The Austrian feels destined for a big job in the coming months after he led Palace to their first ever piece of major silverware last term, and he will undoubtedly be on the radar of some of the world’s biggest clubs,” a report reads.

"Glasner is currently leading Crystal Palace in their first European campaign in 27 years, and with that in mind, Liverpool should be trying to seek assurances regarding his future before they make a snap decision on Slot.

“The 47-year-old achieved great things during his first campaign in charge, but if the Reds make contact with Glasner’s camp and the indication is that he would be prepared to jump ship mid-season, then it could potentially be the final nail in the coffin for him.”

Glasner guiding top stars

Glasner has helped oversee the development of top stars like Ebere Eze and Michael Olise - now starring for Arsenal and Bayern Munich respectively.

And other Palace stars - including Adam Wharton, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marc Guehi are well-liked at Anfield.
