Liverpool STUNNED as forward heads for surgery
Liverpool have been going through some injury problems of late.
Right now first-team options Alisson Becker, Jeremie Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexander Isak are on the treatment table.
Becker, 33, is not expected to play until after the November international break with his place in goal going to Giorgi Mamardashvili in the meantime.
Frimpong suffered his second hamstring injury of the season during the midweek defeat of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League and it is currently unknown when he will return.
His Dutch national team colleague Ryan Gravenberch was injured on international duty earlier this month but returned to the lineup for the weekend game against Manchester United.
Jayden Danns set for extended layoff
Nonetheless he suffered a twisted ankle in the game - sitting out the Champions League victory midweek and he might also be absent for the weekend Premier League clash against Brentford.
Isak, meanwhile, has suffered yet another groin injury against Frankfurt - adding to his difficult start to the season.
The forward now sits alongside Jayden Danns as unavailable strikers for Arne Slot’s side - with the 19-year-old prodigy set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
Forward's injury sounds worse every day
Homegrown Danns hurt himself during a Premier League 2 game against Ipswich in September and according to Lewis Steele it may now require surgery to rectify his latest injury blow.
“The more you hear about Jayden Danns’s injury, the worse it sounds,” he wrote.
“Danns, who played for the first team last month against Southampton in the Carabao Cup, suffered a bad hamstring issue on September 27 and Liverpool are still none the wiser in terms of a timeframe.
“It is thought he might need surgery. That would be a devastating blow for the 19-year-old, who spent most of last season on the treatment table and did not play a single minute when on loan at promoted Sunderland due to injuries.
“Let’s hope he gets some good news soon.”
Danns has scored three goals in 10 senior games for the Reds - since making his debut under Jurgen Klopp during the 2023/24 campaign.
He is seen as a star in the making - being described as a legitimate first-team option for Slot at the outset of this campaign.
