Former Reds' BLOCKBUSTER Anfield return put on hold
It's always a bizarre feeling when a former Red makes their return to play Liverpool at Anfield.
We've seen it countless times over the years, and former captain Jordan Henderson had the pleasure of beating the Reds at his new home with Brentford, dispatching the Reds 3-2 last week.
Real Madrid's visit to Merseyside on Tuesday night promises to be a electric, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to face up to the fans he abandoned last season, after he spend most of that campaign learning Spanish prior to joining Liverpool's most fiercest European rivals on a free transfer.
Before that, however, it's now been confirmed that the chances of seeing a former-Red this weekend have been disrupted following an update, although we might get other opportunities in the future.
Elliott will NOT play at Anfield
According to the Daily Mail, former star Harvey Elliott will not be eligible to play for Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, because his move to the Villians is a loan with a conditional £35m fee.
The deal was agreed between the two clubs on deadline day, although that transfer fee will only be paid if Elliott makes enough appearances to trigger the clause. Until then, his Liverpool departure is not considered permanent, and so he will be forced to comply with the rules on loan moves.
Unai Emery might decide to bring the 22-year-old Englishman with the team, so that he's present at Anfield during the match, although given he can't feature in any capacity, it would be a bizarre call.
It must be said, however, that Liverpool fans might have seen the end of Elliott in a Red shirt. If Villa decide against making his move permanent, then Slot would have the midfielder back in his ranks.
Furthermore, if Villa decide to make him a permanent signing, then he'll be free to play against whoever in future, since he wouldn't have a connection with a parent club. For now, he's unlucky.
It's quite difficult to work out where Elliott's future lies, since he's struggling to get the minutes he's after regardless of which club ehe's representing. Fitness issues haven't even been a concern, it's just about finding favour with the manager and making a difference when afforded an opportunity.
Even though he might not be at Anfield, a lot of Liverpool fans will certainly be thinking of him.
