Liverpool’s ELITE homegrown talent gifted starting opportunity of a lifetime

One of Liverpool's elite homegrown talents now has the opportunity of a lifetime. The starting XI is calling.

Liverpool spent lavishly in the summer, with over £450m going on signings. Over £200m came back into the club in sales, too, in what was the most impressive spend in the club's history.

Despite that, things aren't exactly going to plan. Liverpool are struggling badly for form, losing in six of their last seven across all competitions.

The new signings just haven't clicked into place as the Reds hoped they would. It means just about every position on the pitch is up for grabs in one way or another.

That's particularly true in the full-back roles. Liverpool paid £40m to sign Milos Kerkez but the Hungarian international's inexperience is showing with Andy Robertson in the background looking for games.

Then there's right-back, where Liverpool replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold with Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutchman arrived as more of a wingback, admittedly, and would compete with Conor Bradley for minutes.

Bradley, a homegrown talent, is a truly elite talent and he showed that last season but was always going to have competition to take over from Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool's right-back. That competition is Frimpong - but the Northern Irishman has now been handed the opportunity of a lifetime.

Bradley's time is now

The Daily Mail reports that Frimpong's injury is set to keep him out for a while. It could be six weeks before we see him and that hands an incredible opportunity to Bradley.

He's now the undisputed option as a natural right-back and while Dominik Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez can play there, there's no question that Bradley is the preference. Upcoming fixtures against Aston Villa, Real Madrid and Manchester City present an incredible chance to solidify his place as the first choice.

Of course, that's difficult when the team isn't playing well but if Bradley can prove he's got the quality, he could make the role his own. Few young players get a chance like this - consistently starting in big games for an elite club and without major competition.

But that's the situation Bradley finds himself in. If he comes out of these fixtures with a lot of goodwill, it'll be incredibly difficult for Frimpong to get back in.

And we know Bradley does have that kind of quality. He's held his own against the very best and it completely capable of delivering moments of brilliance going forward.

A solid run of games and that right-back role is his. What an opportunity.
