Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is not going anywhere right now, the club has spoken.

Suggestions came out following the win against West Ham last weekend that perhaps the Reds had just inadvertently saved the Dutchman's job, by starting the process of turning around our fortunes.

After all, one massive concern was that Mohamed Salah is leaving for AFCON in a few weeks, and losing your best player never normally leads to the team having an upturn in form.

However, Slot went bold with his starting XI and won the game without using the Egyptian; there is now a lot more optimism about how Liverpool will cope when the Premier League all-timer departs.

And as a result, we've got reports coming out that Slot has been given the ultimate backing by FSG.

There are no Slot replacements

According to a report from TeamTalk, claims that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was on the shortlist of managers to replace Slot are wide of the mark. Liverpool are said to have 'no plans' to approach the Austrian head coach, 'despite the increasing pressure' on the Reds' leadership team.

But the update on Slot's future goes beyond just ruling out Glasner as a potential replacement.

In the report, Dean Jones said: "All the information I hear and trust out of Liverpool is that there is no shortlist to succeed Slot.

"I'm told there are no contingency plans being set up in case Slot loses his job, so as far as I am aware from making checks on this, there is no firm route to Glasner."

Clubs rarely have shortlists for replacement managers when the role is filled, but you'd have expected Liverpool to have potentially looked around a little, yet the latest intel suggests we haven't.

If that's the case, then Slot has been backed to the hilt to change things around, and even though the Dutchman has said himself that he's struggled to find the answers to Liverpool's shortcomings, he's still expected to create solutions and put us back on the right footing eventually.

Generally speaking, this stance shouldn't come as a surprise. It's very rare for the club to make a rash decision in the middle of a season, and it's an unwritten rule that title winners don't get sacked.

Despite having just 22 points from the opening 14 games, Liverpool are part of a collection of Premier League sides that are all just a win away from being promoted to the top four in the table, despite being picture as mid-table sides when the game week is concluded. Our position is quite misleading.

So all it would take is for Slot to get the team to go on a run of form, and all the speculation will fade away - a possibility which Liverpool's executive hierarchy believe is entirely plausible for him to do.
