Liverpool have a fan favourite who has returned to the team.

So at this moment in time on top of all his other worries Arne Slot now also has to worry about injuries. This is the period of the season when things get really hectic.

Liverpool are in the middle of playing three games in seven days. They are approaching a busy calendar in November with another international break and more games on top of that.

There's no room for slip-ups and with so many games coming thick and fast it's also a time when injuries are bound to happen.

Giovanni Leoni's injury has already had an impact on Liverpool in terms of the depth in the centre-back department. But now another key player has picked up an injury as well.

Ryan Gravenberch sustained a hamstring problem against Manchester United and was not training with the team ahead of the Reds' trip to Frankfurt.

Thankfully, as Gravenberch pulls out another player returns to the team. Wataru Endo missed Japan's fixtures in October and was also not on the bench against Manchester United.

But he was back in training on Tuesday afternoon and he's expected to be in the squad that travels to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The fan favourite at Anfield could now play a major role considering Liverpool don't really have a back-up holding midfielder. There are others who can play in that position.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones for example and so could Alexis Mac Allister. But the only natural holding midfielder is Endo and this could mean he might just be set for an increased role in the team.

It's not known how long Gravenberch will be out for. Liverpool will hope it's not a serious injury but Endo has definitely now become an important player in the squad.

Not only as back-up six but also as a centre-back. Considering he's now Liverpool's fourth choice defender after Leoni's injury, it's so vital to have him back for these up coming games.

Next week, Liverpool will play Crystal Palace in the League Cup, a game where Slot will want to rest some of his senior options so that will be an opportunity for Endo to start again and probably play in a centre-back role.

Against Frankfurt, Slot may opt to play Jones, Szoboszlai or Mac Allister in the holding midfield role. Ultimately though with a game against Brentford on Saturday, he'll want to give the trio a bit of a rest so if Endo is fully fit, he should be getting minutes in this one.
