Liverpool enter transfer battle with Barcelona and PSG for Brazilian wonderkid

The last couple of days have been rather manic for Liverpool in terms of transfers.

Despite going through most of the winter transfer window with the club shutting down every transfer rumour that emerged, it seems like the Reds are actually going to add one or two players to their ranks.

Of course, this is mainly due to the lack of depth that they have in defence after Jeremie Frimpong's injury, but, new players are always helpful.

That is, especially since the Anfield outfit could still end up winning the Champions League and the FA Cup.

And, even though they need to add some first-team quality players to their squad, it seems like they're still looking for ways to secure their future.

Liverpool set to fight Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Arsenal for transfer of Eduardo Conceicao

One thing that Liverpool have been really good at over the last few years is making a pathway for youngsters to break into their starting XI.

Players such as Curtis Jones, Conor Bradley and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all come through Liverpool's academy and managed to become first-team regulars.

And, even though the Reds' academy is one of the best in the world, they rarely shy away from opportunities to prise the best young talents away from other clubs across the world.

This has been the case for as long as many can remember with Rio Ngumoha being the most memorable transfer in this regard over the last few years.

And now, it feels like this path could be taken by Liverpool once again.

That is, if a report from Brazilian outlet UOL is to be believed.

The article starts off by stating that both Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have 'signalled interest' in signing 16-year-old wonderkid Eduardo Conceicao from Palmeiras with the European giants even 'contacting his agents.'

However, later in the report, UOL outline that Liverpool, and four other Premier League are all 'interested' in signing the wonderkid.

Estevao's success as Chelsea is one of the main motivators behind each of these clubs vying for Conceicao's services.

Liverpool must continue building for their future

Times have been tough for Liverpool over the course of the 2025-26 season.

Not only have they managed to drop out of the top four spots but, they've also been beaten by teams such as PSV, Nottingham Forest and Brentford.

These defeats wouldn't be all that much of a problem for most Premier League teams but since the Reds spent over £450 million on new players in the summer, some serious questions need to be asked.

And, even if they do sign some short-term fixes before deadline day, their future seasons still need to be thought about.

Indeed, Milos Kerkez, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz are all likely to be around for the next five to six years but, those three players alone can't make a full starting XI.

Conceicao is an exceptional talent and if this many European giants are vying for his transfer now, who knows how good he could become over the next couple of years.

And, with the lack of form that Cody Gakpo has shown over the last few months, the attacker could end up having a simple pathway into Liverpool's starting XI in the future.
