Who is the best right-back in world football right now?

Last season you may have said Trent Alexander-Arnold. He deserved that title after some impressive performances for Liverpool at certain points of the season.

But his Real Madrid nightmare start has sort of tarnished his reputation. He's struggled to adjust to the football in Spain and has often come under criticism.

Xabi Alonso's style of play means he's not really getting the best out of the former Liverpool no.66.

So, if it's not Alexander-Arnold, then who is the best right-back in world football? Perhaps it might be Achraf Hakimi. He's just won the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, so he has a pretty good case.

In our opinion though, it's not the Morrocan international.

What are the odds that after Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool might have just done it again?

Because they absolutely have. It's not Jeremie Frimpong though. Nor Conor Bradley.

They were expected to replace Alexander-Arnold but instead neither of them are the club's first choice option anymore.

It's Dominik Szoboszlai instead. He has come in and has well and truly replaced Alexander-Arnold out of nowhere.

He's done it against Arsenal, Newcastle United, Burnley and Crystal Palace - while playing against some of the best wingers in the Premier League.

And he's not faltered once.

Instead, Szoboszlai has become one of the most important players for Liverpool. The numbers reflect that, too.

He ranks second for passes into the final third (52) only behind Virgil van Dijk in the Liverpool squad so far this season. He's number one for progressive passes (51) and number two for shot-creating-actions (28) while also making the most tackles and interceptions (19), averaging the second most progressive carries (22) behind only Mo Salah and the most recoveries (46).

This is an all-round full-back performance. Szoboszlai makes an impact out of possession and in possession as well.

He can create chances, run with the ball but also get back when he needs to.

He's the complete package and right now he's probably the most in-form and therefore best right-back in world football. Based on his current performances, you'd struggle to disagree with that.

Which is why this experiment has actually made him Liverpool's 'new' right-back. Why switch his position when he's playing so well?

It makes no sense.
