Liverpool confirm intentions for €170m midfield star
Despite winning the Premier League last season, Liverpool now look like a team in transition.
The Reds have struggled to mount a serious challenge for any trophy this season, and problems both on and off the pitch have put head coach Arne Slot under a great deal of pressure.
The squad assembled under Jurgen Klopp is being rebuilt, with the Reds already making a clear departure from the system that saw them top the league last season.

The established midfield at Anfield for the past few seasons has consisted of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, with Ryan Gravenberch cementing his place early in Slot’s tenure.

That core of midfielders has remained key for the Dutchman despite changes almost everywhere else on the pitch this campaign, but a midfield switch up is on the cards.
The future of Mac Allister has never been less certain, and Szoboszlai’s increasing importance for Liverpool has also led to increased interest.
Gravenberch seems to be the only midfielder who supporters can be confident will remain in Merseyside and a fresh update has shed more light on the Reds’ plans for the 23-year-old.
The report, from Spanish outlet Fichajes, claims that Liverpool have placed a €170 million (~£148m) price tag on Gravenberch this summer following the Dutchman’s contract extension earlier this campaign.
The message is clear, the Reds do not want to sell Gravenberch, and the midfielder is one of the key pillars of Liverpool’s rebuild.
There will no doubt be teams interested in signing the 23-year-old this summer, but Liverpool’s massive valuation will almost definitely put any potential buyer off.
As Liverpool look to once compete on all fronts over the coming seasons, Gravenberch looks certain to remain at Anfield and be a key figure in the next evolution of Slot’s team.
