Liverpool BEAT Manchester City to £45m star
It's not often that Liverpool beat Manchester City to a transfer but this summer they could do it twice.
Florian Wirtz, after all, could be heading to Liverpool. In fact the German is now closing in on a spectacular transfer to the Reds. Made all the more spectacular because of the clubs he turned down in favour of the move.

Wirtz rejected advances from Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, he also travelled to see Manchester City but in the end it was the Liverpool project that won over the German international.
This is extremely exciting and it's a demonstration of the power dynamics shifting in the Premier League. Liverpool are champions and they are clearly the most attractive proposition right now.
The latest example of that is another star who seems to have shunned Man City's advances and chose Liverpool instead.
We are talking about Milos Kerkez, who is Liverpool's no.1 target for the left-back position. The Hungarian is valued at £45m by Bournemouth and it looks like the Reds will be able to bring him to the club based on the latest report.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis, Kerkez is 'heading to Liverpool.' Writing on his X account, Denis claimed that Manchester City's priority had been the Hungarian international.
However, the Reds' rivals moved on because Kerkez is going to join Liverpool instead. The reporter then goes onto claim that City are now pursuing a move for Rayan Ait-Nouri, who is clearly their alternative option and not the first choice.
It's important to stress that we haven't gotten any confirmation of Kerkez's move but if Denis' report is true then that is music to our ears.
We literally used to dream of times like this. Over the last decade, far too often have Manchester City and Liverpool's other rivals prevailed in transfer sagas, time and time again.
But now the tables seem to have turned. Liverpool is again a primary destination for the world's best talent. Even the lucrative offers of Manchester City cannot compete with what the Reds can offer.
This summer it feels like Liverpool are on course to secure some big wins in the transfer window. It could be a transformative summer that might just set up a completely new dynasty.
