Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing €50m rated Barcelona midfielder

Liverpool could make a move for Barcelona midfielder Gavi, according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, as cited by Barca Universal on Twitter. 

The report states that the Reds, Manchester United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing the 17-year-old.

The report also claims that Gavi, who's current contract expires in the summer of 2023, possesses a €50 million release clause.

Gavi is a player that we would love to see wearing the famous red in the future, as he is a promising young midfielder.

The Spain international has scored two goals and registered five assists in 23 La Liga appearances this season. The aforementioned figures highlight that Gavi is well beyond his years.

Comments from Spain manager Luis Enrique also back up that particular argument.

As quoted by Republic World, the 51-year-old said the following back in October 2021: "It's not normal that he plays like that [at 17 years of age]. He's a player with personality, enviable physical conditions and he plays our [Spanish] style of football. He plays like he's at school or in his garden at home."

Due to Gavi's age, he could easily represent Liverpool's first-team for a decade.

The Reds are currently a midfielder short. The club did not replace Gini Wijnaldum last summer. The Dutchman departed Liverpool and joined PSG on a free transfer.

But, we don't know if the club would be prepared to spend €50 million on a 17-year-old. You normally see clubs spend that sort of money on a player that is reasonably established. Despite Gavi's obvious talent, he is still proving himself.

But, only time will tell if Liverpool are genuinely interested in signing the Spain international.

Liverpool are fighting for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup this season. With that being the case, the transfer window should not be the main focus for the club right now.
