Liverpool ALREADY look to replace signing after six months
Liverpool are reportedly looking to replace a new signing already. It's only been six months with the Reds.
Liverpool’s summer didn’t go the way they hoped. Well, it did and it didn’t - they largely signed exactly who they wanted to, after all, with only Marc Guehi escaping their grasp.
But the signings just haven’t worked. Only Hugo Ekitike - a player they didn’t actually plan to sign - has really delivered what was promised.
That’s underselling it, though. Liverpool’s team just hasn’t worked and they look a world away from where they were a year ago.
This isn’t a squad capable of winning the top trophies, it seems. Now, we don’t believe the players are bad - it just feels as though they can’t mesh together the way Liverpool want them to.
So where do the Reds go from here? Maybe with some dramatic transfer deals.
Liverpool eye Daniel Munoz
Caught Offside reports that Liverpool have 'joined the race' for Daniel Munoz of Crystal Palace. Munoz has been fantastic for the Eagles over the last 18 months, establishing himself as one of the best full-backs in the league.
Competition for him is fierce, though. Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all there in the fight for the Colombian.
But this link is notable for one massive reason: Liverpool signed a right-back in the summer. They moved to get Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen so the idea that they're willing to sign a new right-back six months later is quite mad.
So mad that, honestly, we don't believe it. Especially as Munoz is 29.
At the same time, Liverpool have three right-backs in the squad with Frimpong, Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez. None of them are reliably fit and it's led to Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones playing multiple games each as starting right-backs.
It's not beyond the realm of possibility, then, that Liverpool want a reliable option there. It's an important position, after all, and especially so as Arne Slot hasn't been playing with a winger in front of the full-back.
Could that spark a move for Munoz? It's difficult to believe but there is an argument for it.
