An exciting player could be heading to Liverpool soon as the Reds agree terms.

Even after over Β£450m spent in the summer transfer window this January period was never going to be a quiet one for Richard Hughes and his recruitment team.

The reality is that while star players were brought in, the overall balance of the team still wasn't achieved in the summer.

Hughes didn't an excellent job but he attempted to overhaul an entire squad. This was always going to be a possible task to do in just one window.

So Liverpool are now working on even more deals in order to get that balance right and bring in those profiles who they have not yet replaced at Anfield.

This could start with an exciting African star, who has already agreed personal terms with the club according to the latest report.

It's becoming apparent for most of the season now that Liverpool are missing Luis Diaz. Rio Ngumoha was supposed to be given the platform to replace the Colombian.

However, those expectations came far too soon for the 17-year-old, who is still learning his trade and Slot has not been willing to throw him in at the deep end.

Ultimately, Liverpool need a long-term solution for the Diaz problem. On top of that Hughes is now also running into a Mo Salah problem.

Given the Egyptian's comments after Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Leeds, it's now looking like a genuine possibility that he could leave the club in January.

With Federico Chiesa the only other senior option for the winger except for Cody Gakpo, that means investment has to be made and Liverpool are making attempts to do this.

CaughtOffside are now reporting that Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Antoine Semenyo. The African star who has recently captained Ghana at international level has a Β£65m release clause and he has now agreed terms on a potential contract at Liverpool.

The Reds are not over the line yet. Semenyo had agreed terms with Manchester City as well, Liverpool have merely matched their rivals' offer.

Now it's up to Semenyo to decide where he wants to play.

At this moment in time, given everything that surrounds Liverpool, you would not blame him for wanting to move to Pep Guardiola's side instead.

So right now it's all a waiting game for Liverpool.
