Key Liverpool figure set to exit Anfield soon
Liverpool have gone through a bit of a rebuild over the last year or so.
And, even though most fans thought that they'd barely do any business this summer, they're probably going to be one of the busiest teams in the Premier League.
Andoni Iraola has taken over as the Reds' manager after Arne Slot led his men to a fifth-place finish, just a season after winning the league.
This, after spending over £240 million on Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak was a massive fall from grace and has resulted in the club need to spend even more money to shore up their ranks.
That's why so many players are being linked with joining Liverpool each day and why so many people are being linked with moves away from the club.
However, it's not only the players who could be seeking pastures new this summer.
Richard Hughes is set to leave Liverpool after the 2026-27 summer transfer window
Richard Hughes has been a key figure for Liverpool ever since joining the club back in 2024.
The sporting director has been at the helm for all of the Reds' transfers over the last couple of years and, while some moves have done well, others have failed to meet expectations.
Hughes was handed a huge war chest last summer to try and improve things in L4 but, in reality, they only got worse.
The season before that, Liverpool only spent £10 million on new players with Federico Chiesa being the only one to get welcomed through the Anfield doors.
With these deals in mind, it doesn't really feel like Hughes has done that good of a job but, that hasn't stopped another club from prising him away from Anfield.
"More on Richard Hughes to Al Hilal news. Simon Charles Francis started his work with the Saudi club, Al Hilal, within the technical management with the sports director Richard Hughes," Sacha Tavolieri shared via his personal X account.
"Simon’s expected to be Richard Hughes’s right hand as the Englishman will join him at Al Hilal Club after the transfer period with Liverpool ends.
"For the record, Richard Hughes is the one who runs the Al Hilal Summer Club market and the Liverpool Club market."
Liverpool must ensure that Richard Hughes is getting the best deals possible for them
Even though Hughes isn't going to exit Anfield until the summer transfer window has slammed shut, there's still the question of whether he's going to do right by the club.
He already spent an obscene amount of money last summer and, even though he wouldn't go out of his way to hurt Liverpool, the thought of him moving to another club will still be in the backs of the minds of Liverpool players.
Links with players such as Andrei Ratiu and Felix Nmecha have started to emerge and, while they aren't world-beaters, they do seem like smart deals for Liverpool to be looking into.
But, with how expensive players' prices seem to be this summer, it's unclear how many deals Liverpool will actually be able to get through the door.
So, this means that Hughes needs to be on top form when negotiating which is why it could be a tad worrying that his future already lies elsewhere.
