Juventus plan January deal for Liverpool forward
Liverpool made several changes to their frontline last summer - with Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike among the arrivals.
Sporting director Richard Hughes spent British record sums on both Wirtz and Isak while Ekitike cost £69m from Eintracht Frankfurt.
In order to help balance the books Hughes made the decision to get rid of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. Those Premier League title winners brought in plenty of cash - and it was also expected that Federico Chiesa would leave.
Chiesa struggling for game time
The Italian joined the Reds back in 2024 from Juventus on a £12m deal but it’s fair to say his first season at Anfield was a difficult one on a personal level.
Teams in Serie A were linked with a move for the 28-year-old - but he knuckled down and made himself a genuine first-team option for Arne Slot this term.
However his future remains uncertain given the lack of opportunities afforded to him this season. Chiesa has made just one start for the Premier League champions in the top flight this season - last weekend against Wolves.
Juventus want Chiesa deal
And ahead of the January window opening it has been suggested in Italy that Juventus could be about to make a move.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Chiesa is emerging as a genuine option for the winter although the final decision will rest with decision-makers at Anfield.
“The latest idea is to bring Federico Chiesa back to the Bianconeri on loan,” the report reads.
“The Italian's name, who has been at Liverpool for a year and a half, joins those of midfielders and wingers being explored in recent weeks.”
Arne Slot never fancied Chiesa
Chiesa has made himself a fan favourite during his time at the club - scoring in the EFL Cup final but it’s clear he is not a favourite of the manager.
Juve are planning big changes for winter and beyond and could be ready to turn to a familiar face to help them back to their best.
“A Chiesa second contract is tantalizing Juventus executives, and in the coming weeks it will become clear whether it remains a thought or evolves into a more serious and concrete discussion,” the report continues.
