Jurgen Klopp could hand Alexander Isak to Liverpool
Alexander Isak to Liverpool now appears to rest solely on whether Newcastle can replace him.
The Swede leaving the Carabao Cup winners for the Premier League champions is not something the Magpies are particularly happy about, but it's a genuine possibility now that Isak wants to leave.

In essence, he handed his transfer request in on Thursday, and since he preferred to not join his teammates on Newcastle's pre-season tour, it feels incredibly likely that he will move somewhere.
Liverpool are certainly the favourites to pick him up, but the entire saga rests on Liverpool's ability to sell Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, and Newcastle's ability to bring someone in to cover Isak's loss.
Jurgen Klopp is directly involved in all this
Of course, the more difficult of the two requirements is finding Newcastle someone they feel is going to able to make a difference going forward. Most of this summer's promising strikers have been sold.
But there is still one option available - RB Leipzig's talisman Benjamin Sesko, a 22-year-old Slovenian.

Arsenal were initially hot on his heals, but instead they opted for Viktor Gyokeres after it the financial package was deemed to be too high. The more experienced and cheaper striker was the preferred.
However, his quality shouldn't have been in doubt, since he has 82 career goals, which is a pretty substantial return when you consider his age. He's a standout professional in the Bundesliga.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a potential move for Sesko is where the Magpies' focus has turned.
His latest update said: "Understand Newcastle are ready to present their project to Benjamin Sesko as they want to go big! Proposal to the player also being prepared as Newcastle see Sesko as ideal striker in case Isak leaves, as he wants to. As revealed earlier, Newcastle are very keen on Sesko."
It appears as though a fee of up to β¬80m plus β¬10m in add-ons is expected to be required.
You might now be asking, 'how does Jurgen Klopp fit into all of this?'. Well he's the current Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, which is the organisation that owns Leipzig, so he will be engaged in the negotiations that are being held for Sesko to join Newcastle, which would in turn allow Isak to leave.
Newcastle have been unfortunate in the transfer market this summer, and Liverpool have already embarrassed them once after signing Hugo Ekitike, so Isak will not be going anywhere until a replacement is confirmed, and even then, the Magpies will want a significant fee for their talisman.

So not everything is straightforward, in fact it is an inherently complex situation. But if Klopp allows Leipzig to part with Sesko, then Liverpool will have to do is collate the funds to make a bid for Isak.
