"I had a bit of interest from a lot of clubs" - Fabio Carvalho on joining Liverpool

Liverpool new-boy Fabio Carvalho has opened up on joining the club this summer.

The Reds signed the 19-year-old attacking midfielder from Fulham for a transfer fee of £5 million back in May.

Carvalho recently said that he had plenty of interest from other clubs, but he was set on joining Liverpool.

“To be fair, I had a bit of interest from a lot of clubs but I didn’t let that get to my head because obviously I had a season to focus on,” the Portuguese starlet told Liverpoolfc.com.

“Once you hear that Liverpool are interested, there’s only one thought in your mind, which is to join them and try to be in and around the team. Hopefully I can achieve big things.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

It is brilliant to hear that Carvalho is excited about playing for Liverpool. The reality is, he has walked into a top club.

Also, the Reds have been challenging for major trophies in recent seasons. Liverpool very nearly claimed the quadruple last season.

The Reds won the League Cup and FA Cup, but narrowly missed out on the Premier League title and Champions League.

Liverpool finished one-point behind champions Manchester City and lost the European Cup final 1-0 to Real Madrid.

So, Carvalho certainly has the opportunity to win some silverware with the Reds. The youngster may take some time to adapt to his new surroundings.

But, because Carvalho is so young, he has plenty of time up his sleeve to do so. The supporters will get right behind him.

The Anfield faithful have a history of getting behind new players. We wish the attacking midfielder all the best ahead of the season.
