"He's vital" - Ian Wright thinks Liverpool should not let Divock Origi leave this summer

Ian Wright has called Divock Origi 'vital' to Liverpool as he says the Reds should not let him leave.

Speaking on his podcast, Wrighty’s House, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account,  the Arsenal legend was adamant that Liverpool are making a mistake letting the Belgian forward leave for free this summer.

“If he goes, Liverpool lose," said Wright. "People might think, 'yeah, he’s a substitute', but Liverpool fans know, Klopp knows and the players know.

“Even the players, there’s a certain time when you’re on and you think, 'I wish he would come on'. I think if Liverpool got rid of Divock Origi now, they would get rid of a vital component when it’s not working for Firmino, Mane, Salah and Jota.

"If they get second halves like the first half [on Sunday], you need Divock Origi. Whatever you say about he could go elsewhere and play, he’s vital to them and it’s almost like he can feel and sense it, we’re coming into Origi territory at this stage of the season.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

If Origi does leave then he will go down as a Liverpool legend. He hasn't just been a part of some good moments at the club, he's been a part of some historic moments that will go down in Liverpool FC history.

His brace against Barcelona, his Champions League final goal, his famous goal against Everton and so many memorable clutch moments in the Red of Liverpool.

Even though he wasn't a regular starter during his career on Merseyside, those flashes of magic more than made up for it.

There have been recent reports that AC Milan are very close to agreeing a contract with the 27-year-old, so if he does depart Anfield at the end of the season then he will go with the well-wishes of millions of Liverpool fans.

Who knows, we could even face him in the Champions League in the future.
