Former Liverpool target is the KEY to Antoine Semenyo agreement
Mohamed Salah’s time at Liverpool may soon be over and a former Liverpool target could be key to resolving the ongoing saga.
Arne Slot’s side are spiralling, with nine defeats in 15 matches, and Salah has added fuel to the fire by publicly sharing his anger at the current situation.
The Egyptian King has been relegated to the bench for the Reds’ last three outings, and an explosive post-match interview following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds on Saturday brought matters to a head.
After calling out the powers that be at Liverpool, it now looks like Salah’s relationship with Slot is damaged beyond repair and an Anfield exit could be imminent.
No one really knows how this saga will end, but a former Liverpool target could be the key.
Jaden Philogene holds the key to Mo Salah saga
If Salah and Slot cannot find a way to mend their relationship a January sale of the 33-year-old looks likely, but the Reds would almost definitely want a replacement lined up before they authorised the departure.
One of the most spoken about options available to Richard Hughes is Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, who will reportedly be available for £65m this winter.
Hughes’ good relationship with his former club and the winger’s reported desire to make the move to Merseyside will be big factors when trying to reach a deal, but the Cherries will also be keen to get a replacement sorted before a sale is finalised.
According to a new report from TEAMtalk, Bournemouth have identified Ipswich Town forward – and former Liverpool target – Jaden Philogene as the man to replace Semenyo should he move in January.
The report states that Philogene has been ‘watched extensively’ by The Cherries in recent weeks as they prepare for Semenyo’s potential departure.
How will the Salah saga end?
Although Philogene has been previously considered by Liverpool, an Anfield move isn’t on the cards for him at the moment but his transfer could trigger a chain reaction that eventually leads to Salah’s exit.
The Ipswich star moving to Bournemouth would likely allow things to move quicker between Liverpool and Semenyo and could lead to a quick exit for one of the Reds’ greatest ever players.
Interest in Salah will be plentiful, with Saudi Pro League and MLS sides in the mix, and a quick resolution to the ongoing saga could minimise the impact on the rest of Slot’s dressing room.
Many supporters will hope that Salah sticks around, but if he doesn’t then Bournemouth moving for Philogene could be the catalyst that leads to Salah’s replacement walking through the doors at Anfield.
