Forgotten Liverpool star to be handed GOLDEN opportunity by Arne Slot
A tough run for Liverpool has driven Arne Slot to rethink his tactics in recent weeks.
The Dutchman’s preferred 4-3-3 formation has been shelved for the time being in favour of a 4-4-2 diamond with four central midfielders.
This change came alongside the benching of Mohamed Salah, one of the club’s all-time greats, and has so far yielded mixed results.
Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan highlighted just how solid the Reds’ new set up can be, but supporters are still left questioning the longevity of the formation change.
A lack of quality depth in midfield means that at times all of Liverpool’s healthy senior midfielders are on the pitch, and that could open the door for one of the club’s most exciting prospects to finally get his chance in the first team.

Trey Nyoni’s chance to announce himself
Liverpool’s Champions League victory over Inter Milan was the perfect example of just how thin the Reds’ midfield is in the new formation.
Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister formed the diamond in Slot’s midfield for 90 minutes with Trey Nyoni the only midfielder on the bench.
Just four days later Brighton visited Anfield and once again the same midfield four started, this time with no midfielder at all on the bench.
Playing the only four fit senior midfielders for 90 minutes every game is massively unsustainable and so, sooner or later, something has to change.
When Nyoni is back in the team, it is time for him to play.
Liverpool’s midfield dilemma
With Wataru Endo injured and Florian Wirtz seemingly dedicated to playing a more advanced role, Nyoni is Slot’s only option if he wishes to keep the diamond and change out one of his midfield four.
The 18-year-old has played just 180 minutes for Liverpool this season, playing for the duration of both of the Reds’ Carabao Cup ties.
He is yet to come off the bench, but he will surely have to feature as a substitute soon if Slot wants to persist with his tactical changes.
When the time does eventually come for Nyoni to feature, he has the opportunity to make himself a mainstay in this new Liverpool system.
