First signs Liverpool could strike incredible DOUBLE signing

The first signs are there that Liverpool are heading towards an incredible double signing. The Reds appear to have gran plans this winter.

Everyone would agree that something has to change at Liverpool. The best-case scenario is that a simple formation/system change does it and that this group is simply playing the wrong way.

The worst-case? That Liverpool give up on this current project and move on without Arne Slot. We all hope it doesn't come to that.

The actual case is probably somewhere in the middle. Liverpool do need to something a little drastic but there's enough at the club to make things work in a big way.

In other words, transfers. Liverpool embarked on a massive rebuild over the summer but there's no sense that it's complete. Instead, more must happen in the winter window.

Double transfer incoming?

Liverpool will almost certainly move for a centre-back this winter. Giovanni Leoni's season-ending knee injury has left them light and Slot's apparent lack of trust in Joe Gomez means there are really only two first-team options.

Journalist Christian Falk suggests a deal for Marc Guehi is getting 'very close' and Liverpool could finally add the Crystal Palace captain after failing to do so in the summer. But could we see more than that?

The report also suggests that while Liverpool hope to renew Ibrahima Konate's contract, they're now very aware that he may not re-sign. And that would prompt a sale in January, if possible.

It's an interesting one. The suggestion here is that Guehi's arrival is irrespective of Konate's decision to stay. Thus if Konate did leave the club in January, Liverpool would need to move for another centre-back to replace him.

Two new centre-backs, then? That's how it's currently looking unless something changes with Konate. The Reds' defence could look very, very different in just a few months time.
