Exclusive: Man City make contact over Curtis Jones deal
Manchester City are one of several top Premier League clubs working on a deal for Curtis Jones.
Anfield Watch understands that several major Premier League clubs have made contact over a potential deal for Curtis Jones. Jones will enter the final year of his Liverpool contract this summer and could leave the club.
Manchester City are the biggest club to have asked around about Jones's availability. Chelsea and Newcastle United are another two, with more having at least checked in on the player.
Jones will naturally be in high demand as an experienced, title-winning Premier League player who, importantly, ticks the homegrown box. Exactly how willing Liverpool are to sell their academy product is unclear but they certainly weren't shy to do so last summer as several departed in sales.
There has been next to no reporting on Jones receiving a contract offer, though, and at a time when Ryan Gravenberch received a big-money deal. That's arguably the biggest hint that he's available to buy.
Premier League rivals are certainly checking to see if that's the case.
Curtis Jones vs Fulham
Jones got a rare Premier League start - his 12th of the season - on Saturday as Arne Slot rotated his team ahead of the second leg vs Paris Saint-Germain. He enjoyed a great first-half, too, as he played a massive role in Liverpool’s control.
In fact, that control faded after he went off at half-time. That’s something Jones has consistently brought to Liverpool as their most-involved midfielder.
However, that hasn’t translated into minutes - Jones has played under half the available minutes across the Premier League this season. It’s led to plenty of speculation that he could be leaving the club in the summer.
A move to Inter in January was reported but ultimately came to nothing. We expect they’ll be back in the summer, though, as Jones’s future will, at some point, take centre stage.
