Everyone's missing the most important part of Mo Salah's rant
Tensions hit a boiling point at Elland Road for Liverpool.
Yet another terrible performance was compounded by a Mo Salah outburst in the mixed zone after the game. The Egyptian had been resigned to the bench for the third game in a row.
It's something that Salah is clearly dissatisfied by and he made it very obvious with his comments about how he feels Liverpool have 'thrown him under the bus.'
Salah's comments come at a time of turmoil at Liverpool. It was obvious that the club was going to change and rebuild in the summer.
The expectations were that this would be done with Salah still in the team. However, as results have made Slot's position as head-coach untenable, Salah has been scapegoated and placed on the bench.
This hasn't resulted in any improvement in form. Liverpool have five points from three games that they should have won. The performances were not encouraging in any of those games either.
Clearly the issues are deeper than just Slot's inability to find a tactical balance. Salah shed light on this. Everyone is focusing on his comments about being thrown under the bus and how he could leave the club.
But arguably the most worrying part of his comments were the bits when he was talking about the manager.
βI said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don't have any relationship. I don't know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn't want me in the club," Salah said.
Later he was asked about it again, and whether he would talk to Slot about how he feels.
"No, I don't think so. We spoke a lot," Salah said. "There's no relationship between us. It was a very good relationship now all of a sudden there's no relationship."
These are remarkably concerning elements of Slot's managerial tactics. It's one thing dropping Salah, it's another to treat him with respect.
Salah feels like he has been disrespected, and that treatment is not going to go down well. Not only with Salah himself but those close to him in the dressing room.
It's also not the first time we've heard or seen questionable man-management from Slot. Even just recently the way he spoke about how he doesn't have any contact with Harvey Elliott despite his difficult situation on loan at Aston Villa is worrying.
There were also examples of it last season. The way Slot threw Jarell Quansah under the bus after the Ipswich game when he substituted him off at half-time and then criticised him during his post-match comments.
Tyler Morton was also treated badly towards the end of his time at the club and was never really given a chance.
And this is the most worrying part of Slot's current slump. It looks like he is not the type of manager who is capable of managing a team and a squad a size of Liverpool.
He has clear favourites based on his selection, and it doesn't feel like this is based on merit. Federico Chiesa deserves more minutes yet constantly gets ignored.
Treating Salah the way he has been treated is completely disrespectful. And the most worrying thing is that this is not the first time Slot has done this.
