Euro giants 'renew interest' in Liverpool sensation

Liverpool have a lot of making up to do after their poor performances last season.

The Anfield outfit finished fifth in the Premier League and, although they were knocked out of the Champions League by the eventual winners, Paris Saint-Germain, it still feels like they could've performed a lot better than they did.

Liverpool's lack of form led to Arne Slot being sacked with fans demanding that a complete overhaul of their first-team squad was undertaken.

And, while it may have felt like fans were promised that, it's certainly not been the case with Richard Hughes only signing one player so far this summer.

However, Liverpool's lack of signings haven't stopped their players from being linked with moves away.

The Reds are obviously a sell-to-buy club so sales are expected this summer but, it feels like there should be some players who are untouchable.

Inter Milan have decided to 'renew' their 'interest' in Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones only has a year left on his current Liverpool contract.

The Englishman was hardly used by Slot last term and, when he was, it was often as a right-back which is far from his natural position.

But, to be fair to Jones, he did put in a few fairly solid performances which proved why the Dutchman even used him there in the first place.

However, if we're being honest, it's clear that, to get the best out of him, he needs to be used in the centre of the park where he can dictate the tempo for Liverpool and cover every inch of the pitch.

Jones' work-rate is one of the best things about him and is likely one of the main reasons why Inter Milan have now renewed their interest in signing the midfielder.

"Inter have renewed their interest in Curtis Jones and have contacted Liverpool over a deal worth £30m via intermediaries," Paul Gorst shared via his personal X account.

"Unclear if that moves the needle with LFC wanting closer to £35m. Talks appeared to have broken down last month after an initial offer of £21m fell way short."

As mentioned, when used in the centre of the park, Jones often manages to set the tempo for Liverpool.

The Englishman has been massively misused during Slot's two seasons in charge and, now that he only has a year left on his current deal, it's hardly a surprise to see that he wants to leave.

Of course, the deal has been stalled at the moment due to Iraola wanting to evaluate each and every player he has at his disposal.

And, while a £30 million bid is a tad closer to the fee that Liverpool will want for the Englishman, it still doesn't feel like enough for him, especially when Elliott Anderson has just joined Manchester City for £116 million.

However, with only a year being left on his deal, if Liverpool don't move him on now or offer him a new deal, he could start speaking to foreign clubs in January about a potential free transfer.

This, after losing Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate for nothing over the last couple of years would be terrible.

Here's hoping common sense prevails and Hughes gets a new deal on the table for Jones before it's too late.
