Double deal paves the way for Liverpool to make their most important transfer yet

Andoni Iraola still has a lot of work to do to his team.

The Spaniard may have already welcomed three new players to his ranks but, with how poor Liverpool were last term, they need more than just three players adding to their ranks.

Their attack and defence need a complete revamp and, while Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo will certainly help them do that, another player who could play anywhere across the back four would be helpful.

Of course, that's a lot to ask for in a player these days but, since Joe Gomez is so injury prone, it's clear that Liverpool need a replacement for him too.

Despite their defence needing tonnes of work, their attacking line could also do with another new signing or two as well.

Many attackers have been linked with an Anfield switch and one or two have even become priority targets at different points of the summer window.

However, Richard Hughes' most important transfer of the window still hasn't been completed yet with a new double deal now paving the way for Liverpool to secure it.

Before the 2026-27 summer window opened, Yan Diomande was Liverpool's main target.

The attacker is only 19 years old and has only played one full season of football in one of Europe's top five leagues but, he caught the attention of almost every major club in the world.

Many saw the Ivorian as the perfect Mohamed Salah successor but in the end, he chose to join Real Madrid which led to Bradley Barcola becoming Liverpool's next target.

From that point on, the Frenchman has been their main plan for reinforcing their attack but, a deal is proving had to strike.

At the moment, Paris Saint-Germain don't want to let him go as they seem him as an important part of their future.

However, as per a fresh update from journalist Fabrice Hawkins, it seems like the Champions League winners may have just given Liverpool the green light to get their most important signing of the season over the line.

"PSG and Parma have agreed on the transfer of Zion Suzuki. The club is preparing for the future with a talented goalkeeper," he wrote.

"The marketing aspect in Asia also played a role.

"Paris is confident about finalizing the Mika Godts and Ferran Torres deals soon. Both players have an agreement with PSG. Negotiations are ongoing."

One of the main reasons why Paris Saint-Germain don't want to sell Barcola to Liverpool is that they see him as part of their main squad of players.

However, if they get deals for Godts and Torres over the line, they'll both be able to cover the void left by the Frenchman.

Indeed, Godts may not be as good as Barcola just yet and Torres may be more of a striker now but, each of them can comfortably play across the front three if needed.

Both attackers also had fairly prolific seasons last time around so, if they manage to carry that over with them to Paris, Luis Enrique could end up having an even better team at his disposal.

At the moment, Barcola seems to be Liverpool's main area of focus so, if the opportunity to sign him does become available, it feels like they'll be ready and waiting with a bid.

The 23-year-old would be a major coup for the Reds and, he'd certainly help fill the void left by Mohamed Salah, so, here's hoping that a deal can be struck.
