Door opens for contract rebel to join Liverpool before deadline
Liverpool are no strangers to getting deals done on deadline day, and they could be active again at the end of this winter window.
There are several positions the Reds would like to recruit in in an ideal world, but it feels more likely that only one or two opportunities will arise for Liverpool.
Arne Slot’s side would definitely benefit from defensive reinforcements, with injuries piling up in Arne Slot’s backline.
An attacker wouldn’t go a miss either though, and it feels as though the perfect opportunity has just emerged for the Reds to bring in one of the league’s in-form forwards at a cut price.
Door opens for Liverpool to strike cut-price deadline day deal
Several forwards have been linked with Merseyside moves in the last month, but it has always felt as though Liverpool were more likely to wait until the summer to strike a deal.
Things can change quickly in football however, and it now seems a real possibility that the Reds could recruit late in the window.
One of the players touted with a move to Slot’s side is Liverpool academy graduate Harry Wilson, who is enjoying the best season of his career.
Wilson is shining at Fulham this season, with 14 goal involvements in 26 appearances, but the Welshman is now into the final six months of his deal and a reasonable bid could probably convince the Cottagers to sell up.
Fulham have just added Oscar Bobb to their forward line for £27 million as well, which opens the door even further for Wilson’s exit.
Should Liverpool re-sign Harry Wilson?
Before he left Liverpool permanently in 2021, the Welshman only made two senior appearances for the club.
He had impressed on a number of loan spells and was playing for Wales regularly but, with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ahead of him in the pecking order at Liverpool, breaking into the first team was an almost impossible task.
Wilson has been a solid player at Fulham over the last few years, able to operate on either wing and often being a reliable outlet for the Cottagers' attack, but this season the 28-year-old has taken his game to the next level.
Having become the main man at Fulham, Wilson is now one of the best performing attackers in the Premier League, and he looks ready to return to Anfield and finally prove himself at the club where his career began.
With the January transfer deadline fast approaching, Liverpool should make Fulham an offer too good to turn down and bring Wilson back to Anfield to provide some excellent cover for Mo Salah on the right side of the attack.
