Dominik Szoboszlai has hinted that another Liverpool change might be on the way. The Hungary captain isn't entirely comfortable with where he is.

What a season Dominik Szoboszlai is having. The Liverpool star was electric as the Reds beat Real Madrid at Anfield on Tuesday evening, running himself into the ground.

Even on a night where he didn't necessarily win the duels he usually does, Szoboszlai was at his disruptive best with his pressing. He completely ended any chance for Real Madrid to get a foothold in midfield.

But to top it all off, he provided the assist for Alexis Mac Allister's goal. A fantastic set-piece and quite honestly, he could have had more from his deliveries if not for the brilliance of Thibaut Courtois.

Though, after the match, Szoboszlai suggested he isn't entirely settled where he is. A change might be coming.

Dominik Szoboszlai's best position

So what is Szoboszlai's best positio? He's played three this season, with the last few coming in his no.10 role that he thrived in last season.

But we've also seen him put in some world-class right-back displays - he might have been the best player on the pitch from there against Arsenal. Szoboszlai was also magnificent as a no.8 against Eintracht Frankfurt as Liverpool won 5-1.

That attacking midfield role was his own in the title-winning campaign. Though, he also played it differently to most - it was more about his energy and pressing than a creative influence.

It's something that led Liverpool towards Florian Wirtz - a creative force as a playmaker. Szoboszlai, though, doesn't see that as the Reds signing someone for his position.

He talked to Jamie Carragher on CBS Sports and revealed where he wants to play.

"You've been so important to the team this season that the manager is playing you in lots of different positions," said Carragher. "It looks like [you're] now back in your favoured position.

"How's that been this season playing at right-back and in different roles?"

"My favourite position is actually a little bit maybe deeper," said Szoboszlai, correcting Carragher. "I just want to be on the pitch, though. As you mentioned, a couple of times I've played right-back - but as you know, that's not my position for the future.

"I think the gaffer knows that but I'm in the team wherever he needs me."

It's an interesting one, given Szoboszlai's best performances have come in that more advanced role. He sees his long-term future in the deeper role, though - and we imagine Liverpool do as well given Wirtz's arrival.

That's a change the Reds tried to quickly make this season but it appears it'll be a more gradual change. Eventually, though, that deeper role could be waiting for Szoboszlai as Arne Slot shapes this team into something new.
