Diogo Jota was an inspiration and special tribute by Liverpool academy starlets prove it

It's still difficult to comprehend Diogo Jota is no longer with us. That he'll not be coming to pre-season and we'll never see him at Anfield ever again.

The gravity of death is so final. It is that which hurts the most.

A tragedy has taken away Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, not just from us but from their colleagues, their friends, their teammates and most importantly their family.

For them, this pain will be unbearable. We simply cannot imagine what they must be feeling at this time. The most important thing we can do is to give them the privacy to mourn their loss in their own space and environment without any intrusion.

As a club, Liverpool will come together. We will remember and honour Jota's legacy.

He was a special player but even more so he was a special man. Someone who helped out the community and who was an inspiration to us all.

A boy from Gondomar, who was never supposed to make it in professional football, let alone reach the heights of the Premier League and become a champion at Liverpool.

Jota's journey from the bottom to the very pinnacle of the game is something that will and has inspired many young and aspiring footballers.

He was the ultimate testament to what a professional footballer should be. To show you the kind of many that he was, you only have to see the video Jota recorded at an event called BOSS KIDS to celebrate Liverpool's 20th Premier League title triumph.

The event thrown for young Liverpool supporters was made even special by an appearance of a pre-recorded video from Jota himself.

“Hello everyone at BOSS KIDS!” his message, introduced by singer Jamie Webster at the family event at the Exhibition Centre started.

“I heard my song was the most voted for the best song of all of the players. I personally agree with that!

“So perhaps Jamie can sing it for you guys and you can sing it extra loud. We are champions!”

The fact that he took time out of his day just to make young Liverpool supporters feel special goes to show the kind of man that he was.

Now in his death, Liverpool's young players have paid a fitting and touching tribute to the Liverpool forward.

Some of the club's academy players visited Anfield to leave flowers for the Portuguese international in a video shared by 433 from the Instagram account: @romandimine_ as shown above.

The message left on the flowers read:

"May your souls continue to rest in perfect peace, Jota and Andre. Sending our condolences to your family, Liverpool U12s."

This is the legacy Jota leaves behind. He will remain an inspiration for many. And he will always be remembered. Until eternity.
