BOMBSHELL update doubles down on failed Liverpool deal

A bombshell update puts Liverpool in an interesting position. A deal has failed - now they've got to try again.

Liverpool made plenty of transfers in the summer. It was a transfer window like no other, with over £400m going on new players and a whole host of stars leaving the club.

Over £200m came in through player sales and that's not even counting the loan deals. Liverpool completely overhauled a title-winning squad in what might actually be a first.

Whether it worked is another matter. Liverpool have not enjoyed a productive season and there's certainly a sense that a lot of the ideas from the summer have failed.

And that includes loan deals that were supposed to move on the careers of certain stars. Harvey Elliott is one of those - a player now in an awful situation as Aston Villa refuse to play him.

But he's not the only one.

Kostas Tsimikas at AS Roma

TuttoMercatoWeb report that Kostas Tsimikas is ‘out of the project’ as AS Roma and that they plan to cancel his loan deal in the next few days. Tsimikas went there on loan in the summer, rejecting permanent exits to do so.

But now those permanent exits look a lot more likely. Tsimikas doesn’t really have a place at Liverpool anymore after Milos Kerkez joined from Bournemouth.

His only real chance of getting back into things is to remain on the books and hope Andy Robertson leaves at the end of his contract this summer. Even then, we suspect Liverpool might want to find a new replacement.

And so we imagine Tsimikas is sold in this window, honestly. There’s half a chance that Liverpool simply send him off on a new loan but surely the club would rather have things finalised here?

That seems like the smart option and the one they’ll move towards. Find a buyer before the deadline and give Tsimikas a permanent future.
