Arne Slot will finally give Liverpool fans what they want against Inter Milan

Liverpool have been miles off the pace this season with the club failing to live up to the standards expected of them.

Most fans thought that they'd be close to unstoppable with the number of top quality players they signed but in reality, they've actually been worse.

And, this lack of form, coupled with the number of injuries they've suffered feels like a recipe for disaster.

However, with Mohamed Salah out of the equation due to his recent outburst, fans may actually get what they want when the Reds gear up to face Inter Milan on Tuesday evening.

With Liverpool's Premier League title hopes getting slimmer as each week passes, the Champions League is now slowly becoming their main priority.

Granted, their form in the competition has been far from ideal bur with Federico Chiesa, Cody Gakpo and Salah all absent from Slot's squad to face Inter, it feels like he'll have to start Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak alongside one another.

Fans have been calling out for the duo to start alongside one another since they were both brought in and with the lack of options they have in attack, Tuesday could be the day when that finally happens.

Both strikers perform at their best when used as a number nine and although Rio Ngumoha, Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz can all be used on the flanks, Tuesday's tie feels like the best time for the duo to be used up front.

Indeed, they may not click and Liverpool could end up playing even worse than they have done over the last few weeks but, if they are used together and they end up winning Inter, it could prove that Liverpool don't actually need Salah.

Of course, the Egyptian King is still one of the Anfield outfit's best players but with his lack of form this season, it feels like now would be the best time for Slot to try something new.

It's clear that the transfers that the Dutchman made in the summer haven't quite worked out in the way he would've wanted them to yet, but, if he can manage to salvage the second half of the season and win the Champions League, it would help him out massively.

Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak would work together perfectly as two strikers

Before Liverpool's move for Isak even became a reality, Newcastle were already debating starting him and Ekitike alongside one another at St James' Park.

Both strikers have similar playing styles and while this doesn't always work out, it genuinely can't get much worse for Liverpool so they don't have all that much to lose.

Ekitike already drifts out wide to try and create chances out of nothing and more often than not, he's been one of the Reds' best players.

Similarly, Isak has also chipped in with the odd assist here and there and, since both are fairly fast, they could easily work alongside one another to break Inter's defence down.

Nobody knows how the 2025-26 season is going to end up for Liverpool but with the recent drama caused by Salah, allowing fans to experience Isak and Ekitike together could be a smart move for Slot to try and get the fanbase back on his side.
