As a result, there have been less opportunities for some of the club's younger players. One of the players who has struggled for minutes is Jarrel Quansah.

The 22-year-old Liverpool talent established himself as a top-prospect under Jurgen Klopp last season. But this time around he's been spending most of his time on the Liverpool bench.

Last weekend against Chelsea was only Jarrel Quansah's second start as a centre-back for Liverpool in the Premier League - the last one before that was against Ipswich during the opening game of the campaign.

Chelsea presented a tough challenge for Quansah. He scored an unfortunate own-goal, which he could not do anything about and then gave away a penalty towards the end of the game.

The penalty incident in itself was another unfortunate scenario with Quansah forced into action after a poor ball intended for Alexis Mac Allister was latched onto by Chelsea.

Reflecting on the game Arne Slot was asked about Quansah's performance against Chelsea and admitted that he had a good game.

"I like it that you are mentioning that he played a good game [at Chelsea] because I completely agree on that," Slot said in his pre-match conference ahead of Arsenal.

"He played a really good game. I think maybe the last step he has to make - and he already made that - but then on a consistent level is to not be involved in that moment what happened in the last minute [giving away a penalty]."

The Liverpool head coach also explained that he believes Quansah has every quality needed to become a future Liverpool star. Merely he just needs the time to become consistent.

"He has all the qualities and he is already shown that to me - but also to you - to play for this club. But the biggest part of us winning the league is of course consistency and that is the most difficult part for a younger player to get that as well. Some, like Lamine Yamal, it's not a really big problem for him to find consistency," Slot said.

Later Slot praised Quansah as having every quality needed to be a centre-back for the club.

"Jarell is fast, strong and comfortable on the ball. He has every ingredient a centre-back for this club should have. Now the last parts should be consistency in his performances," Slot said.

And he's absolutely right. Quansah is a special talent indeed for whom the only thing that's missing is consistency.

That is natural though. He's still very young for a centre-back and this is only his second season playing in the Premier League for Liverpool.
