Arne Slot backs Mo Salah claim despite Liverpool fall out

Liverpool have a lot of making up to do if they want to get back into the Premier League title race and potentially advance to the latter stages of the Champions League.

A lot of their downturn in form feels self-inflicted with the vast majority of their first-team squad failing to perform to the standards expected of them.

And, even though Mohamed Salah may have felt like he needed to come out and share how he was feeling, it feels like it has added even more fuel to the fire.

Although the Reds may be unbeaten in their last few games, it still feels like a lot more could come from them, especially since two of their recent draws have come against newly promoted opponents.

Salah's recent outburst has divided fans about which side of the argument they want to support, however, it seems like the Egyptian has been telling the truth all along.

Arne Slot says he spoke to Mohamed Salah before his shocking interview

Salah may have come out and said that the relationship between him and Slot was non-existent but in his pre-Brighton press conference, the Dutchman admitted that he'd spoken to the Egypt international before the interview had even took place.

A lot of questions have been raised about Salah's outburst with nobody knowing which of the two was being more truthful.

During the interview, the former Chelsea ace also mentioned someone within the club trying to place the blame of the Reds' recent poor form upon his shoulders and that the club had thrown him under the bus.

This caused rumours to start and now, it's left most people involved with Liverpool in a rather difficult position.

However, it seems like Salah is the one who's been telling the truth with Slot even backing some of his claims.

As mentioned, while speaking during his pre-Brighton press conference, Slot was asked plenty of questions about the Egyptian with one particular insight particularly standing out.

"In the last week after the Sunderland game, there have been a lot of conversations between his [Salah's] representatives and ours," Slot said.

"[Conversations have also been had between] our representatives and him, between him and me after the Sunderland game."

Liverpool cannot let Mohamed Salah exit Anfield in January

As much as some fans would likely want to cash in on Salah in January, it feels like that would be the wrong decision.

Of course, the attacker has failed to live up to the standards he set last season but with Slot bringing in a whole host of new players and attempting to shift into a new system, there were always going to be some teething problems.

Nobody expected them to take this long to iron out, but, once they are, with the quality among the Reds' ranks, there's no way that things won't start to click.

Allowing Salah to leave in January would be a massive mistake, especially since Slot and Richard Hughes would have to source a replacement in the winter window.

By selling the attacker, Liverpool would be backing themselves into a corner and although they may have players such as Federico Chiesa among their ranks, in reality, they're not half as good as the Egyptian King.

There's plenty to consider for Liverpool over the next month or so but if Slot and Salah can solve their problems then there would be no need for either of them to move on which is likely what most fans want to happen.
