Latest Alexander Isak injury update opens door for Man City star to join Liverpool

Liverpool could pursue a current Man City star in January after the latest Alexander Isak update.

Things are turning from bad to worse at Anfield. Isak's injury looks like it could derail the club's season even further.

The Reds' record signing is now expected to be ruled out for several months and while he is likely to play again this season, Arne Slot will have to contend without him for a significant part of the campaign.

After already being unfit when he first arrived at the club, Isak's start to life at Anfield has been nothing short of disappointment.

The latest report in The Athletic suggests that given the update on Isak, Liverpool could not enter the transfer market to sign a versatile attacker who could also play the no.9 role.

And this opens the door for the Reds to pursue a Man City star who is unwanted at the Etihad.

One player who has been frustrated at Manchester City this season is Omar Marmoush. He was a player who Anfield Watch understands was on the club's radar last season, before City swooped in to snap him up with a much better wage package.

Marmoush went onto have a brilliant start to life at the Etihad but ultimately this season he has struggled for game time.

Pep Guardiola has limited Marmoush to just two starts in the league and with Antoine Semenyo a potential target for City, if that deal goes through, the Reds' rival will surely be looking to move the Egyptian on.

This opens the door for Liverpool to return for his services. He'd pretty much be the perfect fit because he is exactly what The Athletic report claims Liverpool are looking for.

Marmoush is versatile, he can play as a nine and on the wing. He's fast and he's very good with his link-up play.

The best part about him is that he already has a chemistry with Hugo Ekitike, having formed a deadly duo at Eintracht Frankfurt and Mo Salah, with whom he plays regularly for the national team.

Still only 26-years-old, he's in his prime years.

It's also important to note he works really hard off the ball and he plays with a lot of intensity. He's essentially the perfect forward option for Liverpool because of his versatility and his ability off the ball.

But let's not forget, he's also a brilliant player in the final world. Marmoush made 45 goal contributions in 51 matches in all competitions last season.

Those are mouthwatering numbers and he'd be wasted on the bench at City. It's time to bring him to Liverpool.
