Agent opens talks over bombshell deal with Liverpool
A massive Liverpool deal could be on the way after an agent opened talks. The Reds may have a giant decision to make here.
365scores claim that Mo Salah's agent is in preliminary talks with the Saudi Pro League about a transfer this summer. Salah has been strongly linked with such a move over the last few months.
Karim Benzema's transfer from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal has opened the door to it, leaving a vacant spot at a major club. The report suggests that it is Al-Ittihad who want to sign Salah as the new face of their team.
There is apparently a 'noticeable openness' to this deal in a way there hasn't been previously. The suggestion is that Salah and his agent are genuinely listening now, rather than merely listening without a true desire to make the move.
That's not a surprise, given how things have moved this season. Salah has struggle by his incredible standards and as he enters the final year of his contract, there's a sense that everyone may fancy taking the money this time around.
Mo Salah: Situation Summary
Contract Status and Exit Speculation
Salah is currently under contract until June 2027, following a two-year extension signed in April 2025. He remains the club's joint-highest earner on approximately £400,000 per week. However, with only one year remaining on his deal this summer, reports suggest an exit is increasingly likely. The Saudi Pro League remains his most probable destination; Al-Ittihad is reportedly preparing a formal offer, though the transfer fee is expected to be a fraction of the £150 million bid rejected in 2023 due to his age (33) and recent decline.
Performance Dip and Statistical Summary
The 2025/26 campaign has been challenging for the Egyptian. In the Premier League, he has recorded 5 goals and 6 assists in 21 appearances, suffering a notable goal drought that lasted from November until his recent strike against Wolves on 3 March. Across all competitions, he has tallied 9 goals and 6 assists in 31 games, his lowest output at this stage since joining the club. Pundit Dietmar Hamann recently described Salah as "a shadow of his best self," noting he no longer dictates matches as he once did.
Succession Planning
Liverpool are already exploring replacements for the summer window. The club is in close contact with Al-Ittihad’s Moussa Diaby, valued at roughly £35 million, and is monitoring RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. Despite earlier friction with head coach Arne Slot, Salah remains a starter and is expected to feature in today's Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
Analysis
Liverpool will have a massive decision to make - but so will Salah. Is he truly ready to call time on his career in Europe and with the Reds? It would be 'giving up' on more records but perhaps he feels this is the right time.
That time must come at some point, after all. And Al-Ittihad will offer a staggering amount of money to make the transfer happen.
There is a little wrinkle in the background, though. Liverpool may well decide to move on from Arne Slot this summer and we do wonder if Salah would prefer to stay and give things another go if there is major changes at the club.
After all, his form this season isn't just on him - it's a reflection on just how badly the team has played. Liverpool struggle to create chances for the Egyptian and his numbers suffer greatly as a result.
A major decision, then. And one that won't be taken lightly by anyone.
