This is perfect: Liverpool eyeing move for €50m sensation

For some reason, Liverpool always seem to leave most of their transfers until the very last minute.

Last summer, they only confirmed Alexander Isak's move on deadline day which led to Arne Slot's players not knowing how to properly play with one another.

This then led to Liverpool massively under-performing and ended up with them finishing fifth in the Premier League table.

Obviously, this is far from ideal, especially when they had only just won the Premier League title the season before.

However, with Andoni Iraola at the helm, things were supposed to be different.

But, at the moment, it feels like things have stayed the same with only two new players being brought in thus far.

Indeed, links with several new players have emerged over the last couple of weeks and now, a fresh rumour has surfaced that could completely transform Liverpool's season.

Liverpool and Manchester United both want to sign Lamine Camara from AS Monaco

Every area of Liverpool's squad needs a new player or two adding to it.

Their attack and defence are obviously their main priorities at the moment with deals for Ibrahim Mbaye, Bradley Barcola and Ronald Araujo all edging closer.

However, with Curtis Jones' future still up in the air and some rumours still being shared about Alexis Mac Allister's future, their midfield could also do with some TLC.

That's why this latest update from Foot Mercato could be completely transformative to Liverpool's season.

"Folarin Balogun and Lamine Camara are the main candidates for departure. Aware of the immense value of its Senegalese international (30 caps, 4 goals) — under contract until June 2029 — the Principality club is taking a hard line," they wrote.

Lamine Camara would be a real coup for Liverpool

Last season, Liverpool's midfield lacked that firepower that they have become so well known for over the last few years.

Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch were fractions of their former selves which led to many mistakes occurring in the middle of the park.

These mistakes then led to Liverpool losing several games thanks to the poor performances of their midfield.

This then caused several midfielders to be linked with an Anfield switch with Trey Nyoni even being mooted as a potential option for Iraola to use.

However, of the lot, a deal for Camara feels like it would make the most sense.

The 22-year-old is coming off the back of a rather impressive 2025-26 campaign and, since AS Monaco want to offload him, it could be a perfect deal.

He'd instantly fit into Liverpool's starting XI and would add some much needed energy to their squad.

In this day and age, €50 million for a player of Camara's quality is an absolute steal and, if we're being honest, it's clear why Liverpool want him.

Here's hoping that, if the Reds do enter the market for a new midfielder, Camara is on the top of their shortlist.
