Striker's future decided, on brink of Liverpool agreement

If you look at all the players that Liverpool have been linked with this summer, you'd have thought that they'd have a brand new team at their disposal.

But, in reality, only four new players have been brought in so far.

Indeed, Ronald Araujo and Bradley Barcola are two massive players for Liverpool to have welcomed through the Anfield doors but, with the Frenchman only just joining, the Reds are yet to see their best team at full-force.

These deals have obviously emptied out Liverpool's war chest a bit but, that doesn't mean that other agreements can't be reached.

So, the fact that a new striker looks to be on his way to L4 makes a lot of sense.

Last summer, new number nines were Liverpool's main transfer focus in the market.

And, by signing Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, they more than managed to improve that area of their squad.

However, since Isak was constantly injured and Ekitike suffered a season-ending injury towards the back end of the campaign, it's unclear how well either of them will do in the 2026-27 season.

Of course, Cody Gakpo and Barcola can also be used as Andoni Iraola's striker if needed but, making sure that they have enough good players for the future has always been one of Liverpool's top priorities.

And now, thanks to an update from Santi Aouna, the Reds seem to already be lining up a deal for their next striker talent.

"Djylian N'Guessan is one step away from Brest," he shared via X.

"The player is set to commit to Liverpool and then should be loaned to Brest right after."

A few months ago, Chelsea had an €8 million bid rejected for the striker with Saint-Etienne not willing to sell.

However, after not making it out of Ligue 2, their tone changed which is why Liverpool have managed to acquire the Frenchman's services.

N'Guessan jetted into Liverpool on Monday night and, even though he isn't going to be making an impact straight away, the fact that he's getting a Ligue 1 loan move is massive.

So far, the 18-year-old has only played in France's second-tier but, his talent is clear for everyone to see.

Indeed, the Reds do already have a couple of other young strikers among their ranks such as Jayden Danns and Will Wright but, if all three of them manage to meet expectations, Liverpool could easily have some of the best attackers in the world within the next five years

Of course, this is a pipe dream but, in N'Guessan's case, the €5 million that Liverpool are spending on him looks to be well worth it.

Here's hoping he thrives in Ligue 1 and shows the world how good he actually is because, if he manages to get a decent return, he could end up finding his way into Iraola's first-team squad next term.
