Sensational forward is Liverpool's next great striker
Liverpool have a glorious chance to land their next great striker. A top talent who fits the bill.
Liverpool must invest in their attack this summer and to be fair, they're trying to. A €100m bid for Yan Diomande went in but was rebuffed - we'll see if the Reds up their offer.
And then, of course, there's the arrival of Victor Munoz. The Spaniard boasts wonderful potential as well as versatility.
He won't be the only arrival, though. Liverpool need more, especially as Mohamed Salah departed this summer. On top of that, they have to find some sort of cover for Hugo Ekitike as Alexander Isak is now the only recognised striker in the first-team squad.
The dream there would be cover for Isak who can also play on the wing. Liverpool may have found that player, too, in Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
The Mail are the latest to report that Liverpool hold an interest in the forward, who is currently with Belgium at the World Cup. Eight Ligue 1 goals and five assists last season with Lille represented a breakout campaign for Fernandez-Pardo - one that makes him an obvious target.
Only one out-and-out striker at 21 or under can claim to have been more valuable last season across the top five European leagues (Inter's Francesco Pio Esposito). No one, though, offered as much as Fernandez-Pardo while showcasing an ability to play all across the forward line.
He's a special talent and one Anfield Watch believes is an ideal fit for Liverpool, as we've explained in the past. Fernandez-Pardo can score goals, assist goals, he's happy to run with the ball and he'll do it from both flanks or up top.
The potential here is enormous and all he really needs is the right environment. We believe Liverpool can give him that, seeing as they very much need a player that versatile who can offer his kind of dynamic game.
There would be minutes to develop as cover for Isak, as cover on the left, as cover on the right...
The potential is there to develop into a truly great striker, then. Fernandez-Pardo really does feel like exactly like the right player at the right time - someone with a proven ability to contribute right now, and with the exact skillset needed.
