Richard Hughes now 'keen' on signing 10 g/a Premier League star for Liverpool
Richard Hughes has a lot of questions to answer this summer.
Liverpool's sporting director chose to spend over £400 million on new players who were expected to make the Anfield outfit unstoppable.
And, on the face of things, with players such as Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and even Jeremie Frimpong joining, it felt like no other Premier League team were going to get close.
However, due to injuries and a lack of cohesion among their ranks, things haven't quite to plan with the club now battling it out for the Champions League places.
And, seeing as though the Reds need to sign some more players this summer, Hughes needs to get his transfers right, otherwise the Anfield outfit could end up even worse off than they currently find themselves.
This would be far from ideal which is why it's hardly surprising to see Liverpool linked with players who already have a bit of Premier League experience under their belts.
Liverpool want to sign Enzo Le Fee this summer
Liverpool's attack has been one of their main problem areas this season.
Almost all of their front line have failed to live up to the standards expected of them with only Hugo Ekitike and Rio Ngumoha starring for the Reds.
Others such as Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo have been poor with the lack of versatility among their attacking line also a bit of a problem.
Several players have already been linked with an Anfield switch but this latest rumour will certainly pique the interest of the Reds' fanbase.
"Sunderland face a mounting battle to keep hold of midfielder Enzo Le Fee, with TEAMtalk sources confirming that several English clubs fighting for Champions League qualification are keen on him, including Liverpool," TEAMtalk wrote.
"Liverpool, who registered interest in Le Fee last year, are primed to revive their pursuit as they look to bolster their engine room.
"However, sources close to the situation insist the Merseysiders will not have a clear run. Other leading Premier League sides with European ambitions are also monitoring developments closely, creating a competitive market that could test Sunderland’s resolve.
"Despite the external pressure, Sunderland remain determined to retain its star assets. Club sources are adamant that they want to build on this season’s success rather than dismantle a squad that has exceeded expectations."
Enzo Le Fee could help improve Liverpool's ranks massively
Le Fee has contributed to 10 goals across all competitions for Regis Le Bris' men this season.
The Frenchman joined the Blackcats in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign where he helped them earn promotion to the top flight.
Although his natural position is as a number 10, Le Bris has played him on the left, as a striker and even as a number six. and every time he's played, he's always shown up and proven his worth.
This versatility would be key for Liverpool as the 2025-26 campaign has proven how fragile some of their players actually are.
And, the fact that he's already got a season of Premier League football under his belt means that it might not take him as long to adjust, unlike some of the players that the Reds signed this summer.
There's no mention of a fee in the report but, for the right price, it feels like the 24-year-old could be a rather intriguing signing for the Anfield outfit.
