£30m? Double it, Liverpool, and sign outstanding Tottenham star
Liverpool should do what they can to jeopardise a £30m deal. Tottenham Hotspur have a star worth double that, easily.
Liverpool are on the lookout for centre-backs, even if they ultimately decide against signing another this summer. Ibrahima Konate's exit forces them to consider the market but they do have four options.
Four good options, too. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez offer a wealth of experience and quality. Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet boast remarkable potential, coupled with an ability to play at the top level already.
But with both Van Dijk and Gomez out of contract next summer, Liverpool must still consider the future and that means waiting to find market opportunities that may crop up. Well, one has.
Brighton are currently bidding for Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur, believing they can sign the teenager for around £30m. That's according to The Athletic.
Liverpool cannot sit idly by if this is true. Vuskovic is one of the absolute best young centre-backs on the planet - in fact, there's no doubt he's the top teenage prospect around.
The 18-year-old is brilliant on the ball and a fantastically solid defender, having already completed an impressive senior campaign at Hamburg this season. There is no doubting his quality.
And £30m? Vuskovic will be worth twice that within six months of regular Premier League football. Maybe even three times it.
Liverpool should, without question, consider doubling that offer to Spurs and securing Vuskovic for themselves. This is as risk-free as it gets - a true superstar in the making and a signing who could give the squad a world-class trio that no one can match.
Luka Vuskovic: Situation Summary
Transfer Status and World Cup Involvement
As of 12 June 2026, Luka Vušković is the subject of a significant transfer bid from Brighton & Hove Albion, who have reportedly offered £30 million to sign the 19-year-old defender from Tottenham Hotspur. While the teenager is under contract at Tottenham until 2030, he is reportedly keen on a move to the Amex Stadium, viewing it as the ideal next step for his development.
The speculation arrives while Vušković is on international duty with Croatia for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. He was named in Zlatko Dalić’s final 26-man squad following a breakout 2025/26 season on loan at Hamburger SV, where he became the highest-scoring defender in the Bundesliga with six goals. Croatia are scheduled to face England in their opening Group L fixture on Wednesday, 17 June.
