Midfield looks set to become an area for reinforcement this summer for Liverpool.

The Premier League champions have suffered in that sector throughout a disappointing campaign. Title winners like Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have been beneath their best.

There is contract uncertainty over Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo meanwhile - leading to speculation that Richard Hughes and Arne Slot will be in the market for a new performer this summer.

LFC in race to sign Lamine Camara

One of the names to emerge in recent days is that of Lamine Camara.

The Senegal international has enjoyed a breakout campaign with Monaco in Ligue 1 - with TEAMtalk now reporting that the 22-year-old is Premier League-bound.

While the report claims that Newcastle are currently in the lead for the midfield dynamo Liverpool are still very much in the chase. The Reds will have to work hard in order to convince Camara that his interests are best served by an Anfield move.

Lots of other top-flight teams consider themselves in the race for the versatile midfielder - who can play in a deeper role as well as an attacking midfielder.

“Liverpool have watched the player, capable of playing as either a No.6 or a No.8, closely, while Manchester United and Arsenal have both tracked Camara closely over a prolonged period and remain admirers of the midfielder’s profile,” the report reads.

“Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton, Brentford and West Ham have all watched the Monaco star extensively during the current campaign as his stock continues to rise across Europe.

“The Senegal international is highly likely to move to England this summer if the right proposal arrives.

“With Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United all still firmly in the mix – alongside interest from Chelsea, Tottenham, Brighton, Brentford and West Ham – Newcastle know competition for Camara’s signature will be fierce.”

Fierce race for Lamine Camara

Lamine Camara has emerged as a high-energy, box-to-box cornerstone for Monaco and one of Ligue 1’s most intriguing young midfielders.

Born in Bignona, Senegal in January 2004, the right-footed midfielder came through Génération Foot before moves to Metz and then Monaco in July 2024, where he has quickly passed 40 appearances and broken into the Senegal senior side.

His style blends relentless work-rate with aggression out of possession: he presses high, snaps into duels, racks up recoveries and tackles, but is also comfortable progressing play with forward passes, carries and well-struck set-pieces.

Still adding final-third output, he offers occasional goals and creative value from corners and free-kicks.

Contract-wise, Camara is tied to Monaco until 2029 on a deal signed in 2024, with no release clause reported and an estimated weekly salary under €20k.

Monaco are open to talks only at “astronomical” levels, with English clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea tracking him and valuations ranging from around £30m up towards the €70–80m bracket suggested in recent reports.
