It's go time: Liverpool get green light to sign Ivorian Bundesliga sensation
Liverpool are seeking to add one-v-one quality out wide this summer.
Following last year’s transfer splurge - which included centre-forwards Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak - the outgoing Premier League champions want to make improvements on the wings this time around.
Big-money names being thrown about include Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola. But there remains the possibility that the Reds do a bargain deal for another one of the Bundesliga’s outstanding young Ivorian talents.
Bazoumana Toure has been a revelation since signing for Hoffenheim from Swedish football back in winter 2025. The 20-year-old now looks set to move on to bigger and better things - with Liverpool having opened talks over a deal.
That’s according to a new report in TEAMtalk - which claims Richard Hughes has put his club in front of Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Brighton, Brentford, Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the chase for the former ASEC Mimosas talent.
Liverpool lead race for €40m Toure
“Liverpool have taken the most decisive action by formally registering their interest and notifying Hoffenheim,” the report reads.
“The Merseyside club view the youngster as a long-term solution on the wing and are maintaining regular contact over a potential move.
“Hoffenheim are braced for significant bids and have set an asking price in the region of €40-50million (up to £43.1m / $57.9m) for Toure.”
Bazoumana Touré: Situation summary
Bazoumana Touré is a 2006-born Ivorian winger who joined Hoffenheim from Hammarby in February 2025 and has quickly become a key part of their attack, primarily operating off the left flank with his left foot and explosive athletic profile.
Standing around 1.75m, he combines rapid acceleration, tight control and 1v1 skill, often receiving wide, isolating full-backs and driving inside to create rather than living exclusively in the box.
His underlying profile is that of a high-volume ball-carrier and chance creator who does much of his best work outside the area, with early Bundesliga returns showing steady goal contributions and trust from the coaching staff reflected in a high proportion of starts.
Contractually, Touré is tied to Hoffenheim until 2029 on a long-term deal, with no release clause reported, putting the club in a strong position and allowing them to set a valuation in the €40m bracket.
That stance has not deterred suitors: multiple Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and other top-flight sides, have tracked him extensively as one of the breakout wide forwards in the Bundesliga.
The current vector points towards a Premier League move if their asking price is met, with his blend of transition threat, pressing energy and 1v1 chaos making him a natural fit for high-tempo systems searching for a young, scalable wide option.
