Liverpool offered lifeline to help Andoni Iraola solve major problem
Liverpool may have brought four new players in during the 2026-27 summer transfer window but, there are still a fair few changes that need to be made.
The Anfield outfit massively underperformed last season with the club only managing a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
Fast forward to now, they're currently unbeaten in England's top flight and, with Andoni Iraola at the helm, the Spaniard seems to have given the club a new lease of life.
These are all obviously positive outcomes but, it's hard to look past the fact that a few more additions would make Liverpool's squad even better.
Obviously, that was probably their goal in the summer but, now that the window has slammed shut, there are a few tough decisions that need to be made by Liverpool.
However, one option has just emerged which may help them solve one of their biggest problems.
Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Dani Carvajal
Throughout the summer, one of Liverpool's main goals was to improve their defence.
Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson both ended up exiting Anfield for nothing which left the Reds with a couple of massive voids to fill.
Fortunately, Kostas Tsimikas was able to fill the gap left by Robertson but, for Konate, things were a bit more difficult with Ronald Araujo and Jeremy Jacquet both being brought in to replace him.
At the moment, that seems to be working out well as Araujo is arguably the Reds best right-back at the moment so Jacquet can be Virgil van Dijk's partner.
However, if a couple of injuries occur, the Reds' depth is minimal which is why it's not surprising to see Dani Carvajal being offered to the Anfield outfit as a potential option for them to explore.
That is, if an update from TEAMtalk is to be believed.
"Dani Carvajal has been offered to Liverpool and Manchester City by intermediaries exploring options for the free agent," Graeme Bailey shared via X.
"While Fulham have also been approached over a potential move for the legendary right-back, TEAMtalk can confirm."
Dani Carvajal could be the answer to a lot of Liverpool's problems this season
Last season, Liverpool's right-back was a major issue for them.
Trent Alexander-Arnold left the club for nothing which meant that the Reds had to go out of their way and target a new full-back.
Jeremie Frimpong was their answer to Alexander-Arnold's absence and, on paper, the goals and assists that the Dutchman had made the deal make a lot of sense.
But, now that Liverpool have had him for a season, his weaknesses are shining through. He spent most of the 2025-26 campaign side-lined due to injury and even now, when he's arguably the Reds' only natural right-back, Araujo is still replacing him.
So, Carvajal, a six-time Champions League winner, would obviously be a solid option for Liverpool to explore.
However, since he's now 34 years old and hasn't been snapped up by a team yet, it's clear that, if the Reds did sign him, it should only be a short-term deal.
Conor Bradley is still out injured and, since his return date hasn't been shared, any extra depth that the Reds can get among their ranks would be massively beneficial.
Of course, he couldn't play two games a week for the entire season but, even if he just relieved the pressure from the shoulders of Araujo and Frimpong once in a while, he could be a very solid addition.
