Liverpool need Man City to do them a favour if they want to win the Premier League

It goes without saying that Liverpool's main goal this summer should be to try and win the Premier League.

Most people expected them to easily retain the title last term but, since Arne Slot decided to completely change things, that was far from the case.

Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo's strengths weren't played to which led to the duo barely contributing to the Reds' attack and having some of their worst-ever seasons for the Anfield outfit.

And, now that Salah has left and Andoni Iraola is in charge, it feels like now is the best time for the new era of Liverpool to arise.

A club of the Reds' size deserves to be competing for titles every season and, if they're not, there's clearly something massively wrong.

So, that's why Liverpool need to get some more transfers over the line before the season properly kicks off.

And, for the Reds to pull off a much needed transfer, Manchester City need to do them a huge favour.

One of the main areas of Liverpool's team that they need to upgrade is their midfield.

Individually, the Reds' midfield three of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are fairly impressive.

But, during the 2025-26 season, Szoboszlai was the only one who proved his worth and actually lived up to expectations.

So, with this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see that most of the players being linked with Liverpool are midfielders.

Many reports have emerged over the last couple of months but, one name which keeps popping up is Eduardo Camavinga.

The midfielder is one of Real Madrid's most versatile players but, since they already have a strong base with Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, the young Frenchman isn't getting as much game time as he deserves.

This has led to many rumours emerging and now, it seems like Manchester City need to do Liverpool a favour and sell Real Madrid Rodri so that the Reds can bring Camavinga in.

A fresh report from Ekrem Konur has shared how likely Camavinga exiting the Bernabeu is this summer and what needs to fall in place for a move to occur.

"Chelsea are interested in Eduardo Camavinga, but the French midfielder does not want to leave and has rejected all approaches," he wrote.

"Reports suggest that if Real Madrid sign Rodri this summer, a Camavinga departure could become possible.

"The club are considering scenarios in which Camavinga is among the players who could be sold."

Even though Gravenberch may have become one of the Premier League's best defensive midfielders during the 2024-25 campaign, last season, he was way off the mark.

In fact, a lot of fans even questioned why Slot and Richard Hughes chose to get rid of Tyler Morton after the young Scouser has quickly become one of Lyon's most important players.

Indeed, others such as Stefan Bajcetic and James McConnell could be called upon but, if Liverpool want to challenge for silverware, they need at least two world-class options per position so that if they suffer any injuries, they have already have a ready-made back-up option.

Several defensive midfielders have been linked with Liverpool over the years but, of the lot, Camavinga feels like the best pick of the bunch.

Not only can the Frenchman play as a central midfielder but, throughout his career, he's played in almost every area of the pitch.

This versatility, coupled with the fact that he's only 23 years old make him the ideal target for Liverpool this summer.

So, if City want to help their rivals out and sell Rodri to Real Madrid, Liverpool would be more than grateful.
