Liverpool finally pick Mo Salah successor; he's a sensational talent

Liverpool appear to have finally chosen their Mohamed Salah successor. And what a talent he is.

Mohamed Salah left Liverpool this summer, calling time on one of the greatest Anfield careers we've ever seen. Immediately, the club set about replacing him.

Or at least, that's what you'd expect, isn't it? Instead, the season kicks off in under three weeks and Liverpool have not signed anyone to play on the right hand side.

It's a situation made even worse by the fact Liverpool already didn't have a proper backup winger. There's Jeremie Frimpong, of course, but one, he's not actually a winger, and two, Conor Bradley is injured so he's needed at right-back.

Interest in Bradley Barcola is exciting but, again, he plays on the opposite flank and isn't a right-winger. It's entirely unclear who Liverpool will start the season with on the right - but maybe we've got a clue for who they want there long-term.

Reports broke on Tuesday evening that Ibrahim Mbaye is wanted at Liverpool and that talks are to start imminently. Fabrice Hawkins claims there's a genuine interest from the Reds, and Fabrizio Romano suggests that the player wants the move.

And that's a replacement for Salah. Mbaye may not be ready to go straight away as he is still just 18 years old but he's the kind of talent Liverpool will want to replace their Egyptian king.

The Senegal star boasts the kind of ability to become a genuine world-beater and Liverpool know full well that there aren't many options you can say the same about. The market on the right is truly shocking at the moment, and Mbaye has long been a favoured option of ours.

It now seems it's a real possibility and potentially represents Liverpool's best chance of eventually having a true Salah successor. Mbaye does have that kind of ability and if he can put it together, he's a worthy pick.
