Good news as Liverpool get enormous injury boost

Liverpool struggled all throughout last season at right-back.

The club made the decision to sell Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid in a cut-price £10m deal. Richard Hughes then gave Conor Bradley a long-term contract as well as signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

But neither replacement worked out.

Bradley was in and out of the team before suffering a long-term knee injury against Arsenal in January.

And Frimpong proved wholly unsuitable as a right-back - doing better when he got his chance further up as a right-sided winger - and also suffered significant injury trouble.

Bradley expected back early next season

The situation forced Arne Slot to use midfielders like Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones as emergency right-backs while Joe Gomez featured far more than he probably expected.

It all added up the sense that the club would be in the market for a new right-back this summer - with Lutsharel Geertruida and Marco Palestra among the names linked.

But there is hope for Bradley according to a report on BBC Sport with the news that the Northern Ireland captain is set to RETURN to the lineup early next season.

“With regards to Bradley, if all goes to plan, he should be fit to return from his knee injury early in the new season,” the report reads.

Early Bradley return a welcome boost for Iraola

Bradley, 22, has been earmarked as Trent’s natural replacement for a long time now. However the homegrown defender has suffered a succession of debilitating injuries.

It’s good news that his return has been pencilled for early in the 2026/27 season and he can get back to what he does best.

Liverpool have not provided many updates regarding his potential comeback with it initially being speculated that it could be 2027 at the earliest.

So this can be a welcome boost for incoming head coach Andoni Iraola - who has earned a reputation for using his full-backs in a successful manner at Bournemouth.
